Finding Lasting Relief

Jul 12, 2026

You want to feel good in your body, free in your life and able to greet your life with the spirit of your truest, best, most essence self. To really live your best life, to be present and available, to seize the day begins with not seizing up in your body. You have 28-36 trillion cells in your body, do you know what holds and governs them? Your fascia. Your connective tissue has the capacity to become what restricts you, or sets you free. Your fascia responds to care, consideration, your intention and your breath. Fascia is informed by your movements, your positions, posture, your work load, stress, tension, worries and anxiety. Your fascia responds to your emotions, if you process them or bypass them, feel them or stuff them. Parts of your body  may become unwell, aggravated, tired, weak, sore or chronically tight, or loose. This is all you, your living breathing tissue is the house for the totality of your human experience. When you can learn and continue the practice to be present and available in this body, and for this body, your whole life transforms.

This morning I did a radio interview with Homer Nottingham. Homer offers Qi Gong classes and workshops and has a great following. Thanks Homer, I appreciate your work and what you offer to this community. I had a great time and I appreciate your support of my work.

Many clients with lower back pain have been finding very immediate relief to compressed discs, vertebral herniations, subluxations, spinal surgeries, and spondy conditions. One of my clients has been struggling with perimenopause, gall bladder surgery and spinal surgery. One thing after another. She takes it in stride and it is difficult to navigate all the symptoms life seems to offer us, all at once sometimes. She is finding relief from the pain associated with both of these surgeries and to her body’s natural changes as she transitions into another phase in her development as a woman with Myofascial Release.

Because what pulls our fascial fabric out of place are restrictions that hold in the body, releasing the restrictions and pressure on the cells restores function to the cell. Imagine if your home all of a sudden got shrink wrapped. The weight and pressure of the wrapping crushing your roof, bursting the pipes and plumbing. Walls come crumbling down and nothing but you and nature and the fallen walls of your once comfortable home. Your cell walls are called the cell membrane. These walls protect what's inside so the material is stronger. Yet we want the cell wall to be permeable because it needs to let in oxygen and nutrients and to move out the metabolic wastes. If the cell wall is healthy it has the ability to be strong and keep out pathogens and viruses and it is permeable to the interstitial fluids that bathe the cell to hydrate and deliver the key ingredients for proper cell function. If the fascia that creates the membrane, the interstitial fluid and the wrapping that houses the cell is dehydrated it becomes adhered, stuck and glued down to other structures. When fascia becomes adhered it becomes like hardened taffy in the sun, it is dry and brittle. Imagine this crushing down on your house. The adhering shrink wrap effect of fascia can crush sensitive structures.

A couple of cute ladies called after hearing my interview this morning and asked about degenerative disc disease, and if MFR could help with this condition. I said yes. Because what is pulling bones into misalignment, in this case compressing the discs and crushing them is fascia. There are many layers to the tissue in the lower back. And many muscles. There are three major layers of muscles as well as thick fascial sheaths called the thoracolumbar aponerosis in the lower back. Degenerative disc disease means the muscles and fascia surrounding these vertebrae are compressing the spine and crushing the vertebrae over time.

The lower back contains three distinct layers of spinal muscles situated beneath the thick thoracolumbar fascia. The superficial layer includes the latissimus dorsi and serratus posterior inferior, which primarily control upper limb and rib movements. Beneath that sits the intermediate layer, composed of the erector spinae group (iliocostalis, longissimus, and spinalis) which runs vertically to keep the spine upright and extend the back. Finally, the deep layer consists of intrinsic muscles like the multifidus, rotatores, interspinales, and intertransversarii, which attach directly to the vertebrae to provide essential spinal stabilization and fine-tune posture.

These muscles can learn to protect when there is an injury or trauma and sometimes they need help remembering how to relax. Most people have a tendency to compensate by moving away from the pain. This leads to a stronger pattern of asymmetry over time. I teach people to listen to their bodies and to relax certain areas that are chronically stiff and pull the body’s structure out of alignment. If you want lasting ease and pleasure in your body the focus needs to shift. I help you understand what is too tight and what needs more attention and how to maintain your body postural line without another thing to stress about. You get to integrate the lessons of the

Myofascial means muscular fascial release. Muscles are formed by multi nucleated muscle cells that form into muscle fibers. Because each muscle cell is wrapped in fascia the fascia connects the muscle cells, fibers bundles, muscle muscle group together. It can bind at this level from the lack of pliability and flexibility which means it’s dehydrated or it can stretch and be limber, jack be quick. And this agile, tonefied tissue is your fascia at its sol state.

Sol is connective tissue that is in its flow state. It is the fourth phase of water. It is gel, it is the juice of life. Where everyone (all of your cells) are acting together in a systemic organic dance that organizes you as an organism. An untamed animal at home in nature. In the right relationship with heaven and earth. And the peripheral multifaceted expansion and contraction of the horizontal plane. One, complete, whole. In your center and in connection with all living things.

You deserve to feel good in your body. You deserve to live your best life. You deserve Myofascial Release. If you or your loved one is going through pain, inflammation and immobility cycles, they have myofascial restrictions. MFR is a gentle, safe, highly effective specialized bodywork that releases restrictions and helps you get back to living your best life. Why wait, when you can get out of pain and back to the movement that helps you feel like you're truly  living!
