I had a client in tears on my table because he felt so good. He had been in pain for so long he had resigned to accepting that he might not be able to do what he loved most. He came in with pain in his shoulder, his upper back and arm. His stroke was off, he just didn’t have the accuracy to play the game like he used to. And he really wanted to get back to how he used to play, when he felt his body movements were easy and smooth.

He had been dealing with the pain and immobility for too long and he was ready for a change. After the first session Roy knew he could feel better. After his second session he came in and expressed his extreme joy, he was playing so well, and everyone on his team noticed his game. He was playing like he hadn’t in years and he won. Within his first couple session he noticed significant improvements. He feels for the first time in many years pain free, and he loves it!

Your body stacks itself from the ground up in segments. It grows itself up like a plant, or a tree. Fascia is your matrix of connective tissue and ranges in density to provide structure and form. Your fascial tissues are organized to keep you upright and to allow for movement. Fascia wraps every cell and every organ, it is your skin, the membranes surrounding each part of you, it is muscle, ligament, tendon and bone.

When your fascia is hydrated it can better support you to be in your flow state. Where every part of you is working in harmony, communicating in fluidity. Flexible, stable and strong.

The best time to start bodywork is now, before symptoms present and become exacerbated. If you have minor imbalances, you can address issues while things are relatively easy to fix. When you have an accident, trauma or injury your fascial system has to compensate. Your body is a whole organism, so when one part is affected your whole system reorganizes itself to keep yourself moving and upright.

When there is a snag in the sweater the fabric of your whole body is affected. If you pulled tight on one spot in the sweater you’d be able to see the whole sweater become creased change in shape. This is why it is so important to releasee fascial restrictions as soon as they start. I treat your symptoms at their source, so your whole body gets the attention that you need, your parts want to work together at the highest function- as an integrated whole.

Often times in western medicine when we share our muscular skeletal symptoms, we are told there is not much to be done besides taking pain killers, cortisone shots, an epidural, or surgery. The fascial system is not addressed in allopathic healthcare, and is the cause of pain, inflammation and immobility. Shots and medications can provide temporary relief and don’t address the real cause.

Surgery is best as a last resort, when alternative options have been exhausted. I often see people when surgery has resulted in adhesions, and masses have formed. When pain gets worse not better after surgery this can be a result of excessive production of scar tissue, these adhesions pull the body out of center and this can ricochet and affect areas far above and below the original sight.

There are serious risks to surgery, and it is best to avoid surgery that cuts muscles, ligaments, tendons and bone and medications that only mask symptoms temporarily and further deteriorate tissues. What is pulling the tissues and bones out of place is the fascia, this is the cause of these symptoms. By releasing the fascial restrictions at their source MFR restores function to the sensitive systems that are held within the fascia.

Pain is transmitted via the nervous system. The entire nervous system is embedded in fascia, as well as the lymphatic system that is responsible for bathing the cleansing the tissues.

I have about 5 clients right now who have moderate to severe scoliosis. The complications presenting in scoliosis are more complicated and involve all structures connected to the spine; the ribcage, scapula, pelvis, shoulders, neck and head, as well as the legs all feel the pull. Because the body is constantly trying to hold things in an upright position, the strain can slide shoulders off to one side, elevate one shoulder, rotate ribcages, and create torsion in between the asymmetrical positions of each structure.

Scoliosis can create pain, immobility, inflammation, masses of adhesions, digestive issues, asymmetrical musculature that is significant different in size further exacerbating the imbalance. With scoliosis the spinal column deviates from center. The vertebrae have directions they can move and are faceted so that you can bend forward and backward, to the side bending left and right, and rotating to the left and right. There are superficial and deep muscle groups that allow for these movements.

These vertebrae can become compressed and the discs that pad and cushion each vertebrae can rupture, the disc material can be squeezed out and deteriorate the cushion between the vertebrae. Myofascial Release decompresses the joints which relieves the pain. This takes the pressure off of the joint and releases the tension patterns creating the strain and stress on the disc and the surrounding structures.

These restrictions in the fascia which wraps every muscle cell and inform the muscle cells fibers, muscle, and muscle group which all surround the joint. By releasing the restrictions with MFR these vertebral discs can be healed, because the tension and pressure becomes balanced, we want tensegrity which is positive equal tension. These deviations can and do shift, with MFR.

When fascial restrictions occur even far away from the spine the spinal alignment can be affected. It’s kind of like a tent, when we tie it down, we want equal pull on all sides or the tent will not be able to withstand any pressure. It will fall down.

Myofascial Release is gentle, effective and safe. MFR gets you the advancement and results you’re looking for. I help people everyday get out of chronic pain patterns and back to doing what they love. You get incredible results with Myofascial Release and Presence Centered Awareness Therapy. I can help you get out of pain, find mobility and eliminate inflammation.
