Listen to Her Voice

May 29, 2026

She has a hysterectomy scheduled for Wednesday. She’s young in her late 40s. She’s ready for it. She's been bleeding non stop for years and they can’t figure it out. She’s tired of it. She wants it done already.

I tell her how wombs after being surgically removed can continue to have pain just as phantom limbs do. I suggest we have a ritual to honor her womb, to connect her with her body. So often when we have issues with our body, there is a way in which we look away, try to carry on and distract. Same thing happens when we have feelings. We can blame the body, it may not feel safe to inhabit the body. We may develop coping mechanisms to numb or disassociate so we don't have to remember. Even if the body keeps calling out stronger and louder. There can be pain and trauma we don’t want to face. And if there is a settling into resistance the pain will often grow and engage different parts.

We began the session by treating her lower back. Her pelvis is in torsion, her bones are set off out of center, she has a hip higher and there is a strong pull.

She turns over and as I’m treating her abdomen. We begin to tune into the felt sense of this part of the body, it’s a feeling and a sensation. Each a voice of her belly and heart. It’s like you’re reaching out in your body to understand a part of your community.. it’s not cerebral. She listens and she feels anger and sadness there. She says it’s from her dad how he was always filled with rage. She was exampled this anger and had been cycling through it in her adult life. I ask her to remember the first time that she can remember his anger towards her. She said she was learning to ride a bike and he was so mad that she was falling. And so she couldn’t just be a kid because he said that if she fell, he was going to beat her. And he regularly beat her little kid body badly. So she just remembered the terror. The incredible fear to do it right. She couldn’t fall off her bike as she was learning to ride that day. The terror and anger and shame kept her in a cycle where she couldn’t speak up for herself. She believed she could never make a mistake because she had been physically beaten so young in life that it created terror inside of her. She lost her voice to even speak up and she felt unable to be loved and at the same time desperate for it and every relationship she was too much. She was unlovable. Her little girl was just longing for and then incredibly frightened to be loved. And she kept calling in men who would run away or be the angry dad again on replay.

Her stomach was hard with bindings and masses in it. With Myofascial Release & with presence, pressure and time. She worked through the story of her little girl on that bike. I helped her center in her now higher self and from this awareness she picked her little girl up off that bike and held her. With her complete and whole being she picked her up and took her down a trail and into the woods where she could blossom into being a child. She told her inner child what she needed to hear. We then checked in with her womb and if her womb could speak… and her womb felt gentle and softer and tired. She said I am tired. And she felt a softness and she said from her wombs voice. It’s ok, I forgive you …please, forgive yourself. Tears welling, I asked what she wanted to say to her womb and she said I’m sorry, please forgive me, I love you and Thank you. And I put her hands on her womb and her womb said to me as I said to her. I will always be with you, and here for you. Forever and always, You can always talk to me.

There are 9 ligaments that hold the reproductive system in place. When the womb is removed there is a space, a hole. This becomes filled with adhesions, masses, connective scar tissue, these fascial restrictions can grow like weeds in the pelvic floor in the pelvis, the abdominal cavity, amongst the remaining reproductive organs, the ovaries, cervix and vaginal canal, as well as the intestines and colon.

Scar tissue, as well as fibroids can be very painful and cause pelvic pain. Most of the extreme cases of scoliosis in older females I’ve treated have had hysterectomies and their symptoms worsened after they had surgery.

Just because you have surgery doesn’t mean your pain will go away. If we don’t address the underlying causes of stress and find a way to heal the tissues and psyche, patterns have a way of repeating themselves. Cutting isn’t the best way to heal the body and I would consider it a last resort.

A sweet, kind soft spoken elder woman came in for her second series after I treated her sciatica and shoulder in her first 6 sessions. She has dysphonia, her vocal chords are creating a raspy voice and soreness, and she also has vertigo. She’s concerned because she’s off balance and feels dizzy often. We have been doing head, neck, throat & shoulder work. Her father was an alcoholic and so were her two husbands. There was anger and abuse and her body remembers. The rage of the men in her life kept her quiet. Often, she was filled with fear and didn’t use her voice to speak up for herself, for her own protection. With compassion and love we are holding her little girl, who protected her with quietness. She is finding courage to feel the pain and speak to her past. Her freedom is found in her voice.

What if you took the time to center yourself and to take the best care of your body, mind and heart? What if you could get lasting results and really address your symptoms? What if you honor and value your loving, living, moving temple and set aside your busy-ness to value your human experience and yourself fully.
