Myofascial Release

May 29, 2026

I was raised on five acres, with a cabin, ponds and gardens. When I was five, my brother and I were walking the land and I fell into a cistern and died. Preserved in ice cold spring water my brain was kept alive while my heart did not beat. I was clinically dead for 45 minutes. I was resuscitated, and lay in a coma for three days. During this time I experienced a oneness and unity that is beyond anything I can describe with words. My name is Angela Rose, I am a Myofascial Release Therapist and an Injury Specialist. I practice Presence Centered Awareness Therapy during sessions.

Your body is an architectural masterpiece and your fascial system is the building material. If you think of your body as a building, stacking in segments from the ground up, we are looking for symmetrical even tension from left to right, front to back, top and bottom. When something is out of alignment the body has to balance by creating restriction on the opposite side as it stacks up. So a little bit of tension in the feet can transfer to the neck and have created restriction often in a zig zag pattern up through the ankle, knee, hip, low, mid back, shoulders neck and head. This is why it is so important to get treated with MFR.

I have been treating several clients with extreme conditions including scoliosis with excellent results. One of my clients is at 30% curvature of the spine, their rib cage is 4 inches to the side of the pelvis. Each session with her, we shift and change fascial planes to move her back to her center. Each day she was coming back more in vertical and horizontal alignment. We dealt with the injuries she had throughout her life and released the fascial restrictions as they arose in different parts of her body.

Over 10 sessions she had significant relief in pain, inflammation and she was more active and able to do her work and had more energy, enough to play. Her gait was more even and her posture both standing up taller and more symmetry from left to right. She had both erector spinae groups on the right side of the spine because the pelvis was so far offset by her ribcage. The erector spinae are a group of muscles along the left and the right side of the spine, the vertical back straps. So the fascial sheets, the way they were pulling, the left side had gone over the spine and to the right side of the spine. We worked these muscles back from right to left. With time and precision we were able to find her tensions released and muscles organized and repositioned as she unwound the tension patterns to find herself free dimensionally. MFR reorganizes your tissues and differentiates the muscles from one another so that they are more effectively functioning in their specific role.

Your fascial system allows you mobility or rigidity. Your motions are as fluid as your fascial matrix. When your tissue is released you will feel connectivity in your body, mind, emotions and consciousness. When you have pain in your body this is your body talking to you, it is time to stop and listen. The body's intelligence is vast and has messages for you. When you can tap intuitively, you can clear and release restrictions to find and act more from your essential nature.

Myofascial Release is a specialized technique that helps people recover from trauma and injury. As the body holds up in space we look at the structure from the ground up. Movement patterns like repetitive work, long hours at the computer, using one side of your body more than the other, one foot, hip, ribcage, shoulder in front of another and your body twist might very well be happening from the ground up. These asymmetries can create significant torsions and twists that have a tendency to build up in tension and pass it upward. There are lines of tension, like scaffolding that can build up as scar tissue, adhesions, adhered fascia that deeply intrinsically connects muscle groups. These tensions can cause pain that can be debilitating. This pain is caused by the sensitive structures that are housed within the fascia, like nerves, that relay pain back to the brain being squished and stretched, compressed and broken down by the adhering drying out of the fascia. Pain can feel like arthritis in the joints, aching, tingling, sharp, shooting, dull aching, like it’s broken or torn, or mysterious pain that moves from place to place. Each person is different, so getting an evaluation of your posture is helpful in knowing what you can stretch and strengthen to get these imbalances fixed.

Myofascial Release is a massage technique that stretches, lengthens, spreads and differentiates connective tissues. With MFR the practitioner is using pressure and time with many cross-hand holds, to let the tissue unwind. Just as there is a mechanism at play when the tissue is bound, there is an opposite and similar tool to unbind the tissue. Fascial restrictions are tissues that have been bound and wound up in a very unique variation of twists and turns. It’s kind of like a ball of wound up yarn. Scar tissue is not organized and there are layers of structures with different knots, bumps and lumps tied up and in close together. Once you free up one knot the other layers are easier to get to. Tension across joints is often tied together.

Many people have some kind of lean. Someone with a left or right lean will have shoulder issues. It’s as if the clavicle and shoulder blades are sliding off the side of the body. Many lean forward, aggressing on life, and they have lines of tension in their front which causes their backs and the weight of the head to have to bring them back to center. Others lean away from life, sometimes living life with fear, and tend to inhabit more of their back body. Their spine is closer to the surface. Each posture has an energetic to it. When we observe ourselves without judgement, we can feel what’s real and then let go and move back into your center. So when we notice and rest into noticing, we change. The work of transformation is often observing, and recognizing that everything is optional and then you can choose to center.

I practice Myofascial Release exclusively because the results speak for themselves. I read your body and can effectively and positively change your body’s structure.
