Sacral Balance is Body Balance

May 28, 2026

Myofascial Release is a gentle and highly specialized bodywork that releases fascial restrictions and restores mobility, tone, and function to your connective tissues. Fascia is your medium, it is what provides you with your structure, shock absorption and energy production. It’s how you hold and change shapes as you move from seated to standing, how you walk and hold yourself upright. You have 206 bones and over 600 muscles and they move in a vast variety of different combinations of actions. You want your fascia, this matrix of connective tissue to have the ability to be pliable and flexible, strong and stable. We are able to treat the fascia which can have up to 2000 lbs of PSI (pressure per square inch). This is like an internal straightjacket. These restrictions are often times under diagnosed and do not show up on MRI’s or CAT scans. The pressure can be released with MFR. MFR applies sustained pressure and with time stretches and melts the superficial to deep layers of tissue.

The fascial connective tissue can be hydrated and restrictions can be released with Myofascial Release. We now understand fascia is the fluid that hydrates a cell and changes in density to bone. Fascia can be in different states, it can be fluid and it can get gummy, hardened, adhered and stuck.

If you are experiencing pain, inflammation, lack of mobility, mysterious sensations that change and move, knots, lumps, tight, sore, tired, fatigue low energy, brain fog, trouble getting up and down as easily, hips locking up. If you or a loved one has had surgery or been injured in an accident, if you have had trauma or asymmetry in your musculature, if you have had spinal cord injuries, herniated discs, pinched nerves, sciatica, pain in legs, glutes, pelvis, neuropathy, knee, hip, shoulder, lumbar, thoracic, cervical sublexation, vertebral breaks, fusion, clavicular, scull, damage. Myofascial Release delivers results that surpass other therapies. MFR treats your symptoms at the source. You can get out of pain and back to doing what your love with Myofascial Release.

The spinal cord is made up of 26 vertebrae, unless you count the 5 sacral and the 4 coccygeal joints then we are up to 33. This is the main trunk of the tree and each limb is innervated with tributaries branching out from the trunk of the central nervous system. At each facet the vertebrae stack themselves depending on the tightness and tension the surrounding ligaments muscles and all the fascial layers they are held in. We want even, symmetrical tension on all sides of each vertebrae to have a fully erect symmetrical spine and a fully functioning nervous system.

There are several ways spines can deviate. When the spinal column is pulled out of alignment this puts pressure on one side more than the other. It creates uneven musculature from left to right, front to back and/or in rotation which is torsion- a twist across the body. The nerves that innervate the legs run through the length of the spine from the brain, through the spinal cord to the base of the spine the sacrum then run through holes called foramen in the sacrum through the pelvis into the legs.

In order for our feet to have proprioceptive skills to keep us balanced, agile and quick, we want our neuromuscular system to be firing at high speed and relaying accurate information. The nerves that innervate the legs and feet run from the brain through the spine, through the pelvis to the legs out to the feet. In order to have rapid relay we want a smooth pathway.

The sacrum is the base of the spine so architecturally we want the sacrum to be held in balance, evenly between the right and left iliac crest. This is known as the SI joint, the Sacral Iliac joint.Unevenness can be a result of one shorter leg than the other. This can result in bursitis of the hip, very tight external rotators and glutes and less leg function.

I had a client come in and he had a spinal fusion in his lumbar vertebrae, and he had a positive outcome with his surgery - he didn’t notice any immobility after he had healed from his surgery.

Then he got covid twice within a couple years and each time he was hit pretty hard. He was told he was having long covid symptoms. Each time he got covid he had less mobility. He came in with a walker and has been having trouble moving well for over a year now. He said he can walk, he has trouble with balance. He walks slow and in a small range of motion.

After he received his first treatment he was able to walk better than he had in a while. He chose not to use his walker and walked through office. We are setting up an intensive style treatment plan. So that he can get his legs more responsive and room for his nervous system to fully function. He has one shorter leg, his pelvis is imbalanced and his sacrum is adhered and off balance. There is torsion in the pelvis and twisting up the spine. I have helped clients walk again.

We want our tissue to be pliable, not in balls and knots with adhesions. When the fascia is restricted it is cuts off blood flow and nerve supply the tissue becomes adhered glues down. The ligaments and tendons close to bones need to be able to function optimally for the rest of the soft tissues to stay in a positive structure. Muscles can become dysfunctional when they get glued down to their neighbor because they get pulled into another location. Tissue migrates to these places that glue down.

The body is trying to stabilize usually due to a trauma or injury, this can also be postural, structural, genetic, can come from surgery, scars, mutations, disease, cancer, radiation, chemo. The body uses fascia in the form of internal scaring that you can’t see. It’s like an internal band-aid. Band-aid after band-aid. The body does it’s best to provide stability and protection. Meanwhile it is locking down the tissue and cutting off blood flow, and nutrient supply. It is also unable to secrete wastes as efficiently. So things get stagnant in these areas. The areas atrophy, become chronically inflamed and more prone to dysfunction and disease.

When muscles start to turn into cords, the muscle is changing in density and turning up the torsion. Myofascial Release treats these fascial restrictions and can alter the shape of bones, it can decompress joints creating space and restoring function.

Your body is a masterpiece and deserves your attention, care, time to support and nurture the very fibers of your being.

My name is Angela Rose, I am a Myofascial Release Therapist and Injury Specialist. I treat clients with acute or chronic, mild, moderate to severe conditions. People who have had accidents, injuries, trauma both physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, who want to find their way to feeling better. I watch people transform, with MFR. I see shifts in the physical structure, in the arrangement of tissue, in the stance, in the gait, in their ability to walk, run, move, work and play. I treat clients at Sol Bodyworks in Grass Valley.
