Ways Of Water

Jun 09, 2026

We ourselves are made of water, and so like water we have the power to move and carry information, with our hydrogen and oxygen molecules. Last night I listened to a talk where Michiko Hayashi presented the work of Dr. Masaru Emoto founder of the Emoto Peace Project. Michiko is continuing the legacy of Dr. Emoto and she delivered a presentation as to the effect of our thoughts and emotions on the waters of our bodies and of the world and how to harness the power of water to assist us during these turbulent times.

Masaru Emoto, a Japanese author, claimed that human emotions could influence the molecular structure of water. In his experiments, Emoto exposed water to different emotional stimuli, such as positive or negative thoughts, words, or music. Afterward, he froze the water and examined the resulting ice crystals under a microscope. Emoto asserted that water exposed to positive emotions formed symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing ice crystals, while water exposed to negative emotions produced asymmetrical and less appealing structures. He published these findings in his book The Hidden Messages in Water. I attended the talk on Zoom with my 16 year old daughter, she is interested in hydrology, the way we store, use and cleanse water, and we sat together while speakers presented with prayers, talks about structured and primary water, the amazing properties of water and how we are made of water, and so have these same properties. It was so nice to sit with my daughter and it was the perfect antidote to our argument earlier.

You see I am doing my best to educate my daughter on vibrations, energy, and tone of voice and how we are affected by our positive and negative thoughts and emotions. Sewa Valencia from Sisters of the One Drum lead us for a beautiful opening prayer, and we held hands in the car as we pulled up into the drive of our home to sit and listen to the song she shared with us. We closed her eyes and I could feel my daughter’s energy shift. The old indigenous ways of caring for land and waters come from the art of observation. This is the way I have learned to approach my bodywork, by observing with focus and care to attend to the body by noticing what may be blocking or restricting the flow of life. With careful consideration to observe what is out of balance I look beyond the individual parts to the whole system. An eagle’s eye view. Getting a perspective of all sides to know what patterns and structures are holding in the body. A wholistic approach takes into account the interdependent relationships within an eco system.

Each part plays a role, and is important. And the internal landscape an ecosystem within our bodies; each part of us is interdependent upon each other part, to function at our prime. In the talk last night David Avocado Wolfe spoke about the active elements of a fresh water spring and how it is the hydrogen within the water that propels and is the energy within the water that creates the movement, the rise, the activity. How the waters deep within caverns and vestibules of the earth bubble up from the lowest points to the top of the mountain, how water moves and flows together, how it generates energy and propels itself forward in force and momentum is the hydrogen within the H2O. Fascinating isn’t it? Water has properties that that we can learn from, that support the flow of life within us and within our communities. My friend last night said “yes Angela you have so many ideas.” It’s true, my mind is full of queries, of wonderings and connections. I do love to think. And it is my love and admiration for water that seems to quench a deep thirst in me. When I look to the cleansing and healing capacities of water, and to that of air, to our very own breath and the exchange of oxygen we receive, I have the tools necessary to access my life force. These elements are sustaining, transformational and wise.

We have the very elements within us necessary to change our lives and most of the time these elements go unnoticed… we are breathing every moment and don’t even need to notice for it to keep happening, it is autonomic. It is when we pay attention, we are able to harness the deeper healing properties. We are able to work with these energies and utilize them for our greater good. Water is always moving, it is receptive, water is pliable, fluid, it changes in different temperatures and environments, it picks up information, carries and delivers it. Water can smooth a stone and when there is a block in a river it can go under, over around it and even through it. And water carries the vibrations that we offer to it, knowing and unknowingly. It was so healing to hear this talk with my daughter because she is influenced by the information she receives. And to sit and listen to the qualities of water with her, I could feel her sitting up straighter, she was paying attention, we softened together, because we knew the wisdom of the messages of water are peace. We could feel the truth in Michiko’s words, because in our own bodies we knew. Our thoughts and emotions do affect our waters, our physical make up, our matter. Our emotions, e-motions are powerful and Michiko said and I believe also, that it is important to feel our hearts, to be authentic and have emotions, and we have a choice as to weather we continue to act from these emotions. We can let go and flow in the ways of the water. When we feel sad, mad, fearful, it is ok to feel it, and it becomes a choice if we want to keep it around and feed these emotions. Many of our roughly 80,000 thoughts a day can be rising up from our subconscious, a large majority can be coming from a fears, doubts, limiting beliefs. We can’t always control each of our thoughts, they come at rapid speed and can come from outside influences, our upbringing, our lineage through our bloodline as well.

What we do have is free will. We have the ability to choose to entertain the thoughts, the feelings, to keep feeding them with our attention. We can have a sensation, thought or feeling and each one can happen simultaneously. Often they play into each other. And so again the invitation is to sit still and observe, to notice and watch. To be with what is occurring so that, we can idle in the choice point. We can sit at the helm and reside in the higher self and with all of our most desirable traits and characteristics we can apply compassion, ease, peace, joy, wonder, love, trust and healing. We can hold a space of loving awareness, present in this moment and watch so that, we can make the highest choice, with the best possible outcome. And so my daughter who is learning to navigate the beautiful emotions of her big beautiful heart, has more options.

When she becomes angry, rather than getting wrapped up in the drama that life offers sometimes, she is learning how to manage the sense of loss of control, how to process the injustice she sees in her world, and that underneath sadness there is often times grief. And, she is learning from me. I am exampling to her. And it is my opportunity to practice patience, to demonstrate what I know to be true in the practice of our lives together, as she learns. To continue to vibrate and sound in the tone of voice that echos the harmonious melodies of the flowing water, at ease and with reverence. To exude the healing loving qualities of water, I will continue to remember. I will remember the one love and 2 gratitudes as Michiko spoke of. As water has H2O. We infuse and set intentions, prayers, a focus, what ever you believe in, believe. Believe in the power of love, believe and trust in what has been given to you, all of it. Feel it, and heal it with the momentum of gratitude. Breath into this beautiful body, and know you are beautiful. With all the bends and folds and ripples that make up your tissues. Give thanks to your body for working for you. Find the way of the water. Find your wisdom and truth and come from this place.

Share these qualities with the parts of you that have isolated or separated from this truth. Feel the flow of life return as you meditate on your flowing waters within. And go down to the river to pray, study about the good old ways. I am forever grateful to the healing powers of this creative life-force that animates all of us. It is within these forces of nature that shares life with all living things, people and places.
